Spiders, vertigo, Norwegian cult films, anniversaries, Spanish horror, and much more. The first 15 films in this year's Ramaskrik programme have been announced. And this is not even half of the programme, which will continue to be filled with films and guests right up until mid-September.

A year of horror movie watching by our fantastic programming committee is drawing to a close. We are continuously lifting the lid on our horror film cauldron, and it tastes very good this year, as always.

Crawlers, Fall 2 and Friday The 69th

One of the most intense trailers we have seen lately is the spider horror film Crawlers, and it is sure to make audiences itch at Ramaskrik. The same goes for the sequel to the 2022 acrophobia thriller Fall. We promise a dizzying ride in Fall 2: Deadpoint. Friday The 69th is an ultra-low-budget B-movie horror tribute, shot entirely on an iPhone and partly in the same house where The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was filmed. Expect bloodshed, great fun, and an exceptional amount of silliness!

Gaua and They Always Come at Night

Spain is a country with an enormous horror film scene and countless festivals. This year, we have several Spanish films in the program, starting with Gaua (The Night). If you are interested in folklore, history, witchcraft, and sorcery, this is the film for you! They Always Come at Night radiates slow-burning Gothic melancholy and mystery. And there is more Spanish horror to come, we promise.

Cold Prey anniversary celebration

This year's major Norwegian anniversary celebration is none other than Cold Prey from 2006. Roar Uthaug's classic mountain slasher will be screened, dissected, and celebrated at Ramaskrik. Uthaug will be attending, as will lead actress Ingrid Bolsø Berdal.

Norwegian cult movies

Speaking of Norwegian film, the podcast Norsk kultfilm will of course be visiting as well. We will screen the 1976 thriller Angst, meet Severin Eskeland, and watch his first amateur films Slakt and Slakt 2. Last but not least, there will be a live podcast episode about Cold Prey featuring Roar Uthaug and Ingrid Bolsø Berdal.

Grind and Boxcutter

In Grind, we are presented with four interconnected stories drawn from a dystopian present. Grind is a black comedy that a few years ago would have been considered dystopian fiction, but which, in today's United States, may strike many as only a slight exaggeration. Boxcutter is a painful and vicious film, in many ways a love child of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and the French New Extremity movement. After a slow build-up, the story explodes in its second act, delivering top-shelf discomfort and brutality.

The Devils

Ramaskrik brings you the first screening in Norway of The Devils from 1971. A long-awaited newly restored and uncensored version of Ken Russell's wild and controversial classic is finally ready to be seen.

Amsterdamned II, Bowels of Hell and Fifteen

Director Dick Maas still has a bloody touch and a confident visual style. Amsterdamned II picks up the thread from one of the truly great Dutch cult films and sits somewhere between sequel and reboot. Bowels of Hell marks the return of toilet horror, now a firm Ramaskrik tradition, and this year's rowdy contribution comes from Brazil. It is bloody, humorous, and above all political. Bon appétit! Fifteen is a Mexican coming-of-age body horror film with as much playful charm as blood and gore. If you enjoyed Ginger Snaps (2000) or Eighth Grade (2018), Fifteen is definitely one to catch.

Rubber

We will be leaving the cultural centre and heading to Toyota Slettum Bil for a special screening of the tire-horror film Rubber in the most fitting surroundings imaginable, right among tires and cars. Rubber was made by French filmmaker Quentin Dupieux, who is no stranger to Ramaskrik thanks to his film Smoking Causes Coughing. This event is presented in collaboration with Trondheim Film Society.
