About Ramaskrik

Ramaskrik Film Festival is Norway’s largest event dedicated to horror cinema and takes place every autumn at Oppdal Cultural Centre. We bring together horror film fans from across the country, filling more than 6,000 cinema seats over five wonderful autumn days in the mountains. In 2026, the festival will be held for the 16th time, running from 14 to 18 October. Over the years, Ramaskrik has established a strong international reputation and welcomed numerous international guests, while also providing an arena for local filmmakers and emerging talent.

Expect nearly 40 feature films, a dedicated short film programme, an amazing audience, exciting filmmakers, live podcasts exploring horror and cinema, and, above all, a highly social festival where everything is just a short walk away. Those of us who organize the festival are passionate about horror films, and we hope that passion shines through in every aspect of the Ramaskrik experience.

As a Competitive Member of the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF), Ramaskrik Film Festival is proud to host the Méliès d’Argent Short Film Competition, which recognizes and celebrates the best European short films in fantastic cinema.

Ramaskrik Film Festival has a general age limit of 15 years, which is strictly enforced. Some films may also carry an 18-year age restriction.
