Thank You!

What a ride! Ramaskrik 2026 is now history, and we are smiling after a festival filled with films, festivities, and a shared love of horror cinema among audiences and organizers alike.

Over 6,500 tickets were sold for this year's record-breaking program. We handed out awards for both short and feature films and, not least, successfully pulled off another intense horror marathon with no hiccups along the way, as far as we have discovered.

With 6,534 admissions over five days, Oppdal Kulturhus actually became the fifth most attended cinema in Norway during the festival period October 14-18. That is just above last year's total attendance of 6,481, technically making this the most attended festival in Ramaskrik's history.

Méliès d’Argent winner

The winner of this year's Méliès d’Argent European Short Film Competition was Dammen, directed by French filmmaker Grégoire Graesslin. Congratulations!

The film will now advance to the final round for the Méliès d’Or at the Sitges Film Festival in October 2027. We would like to thank all the filmmakers who submitted their work, as well as our jury: Astrid Thorvaldsen, Knut Nærum, and Jasper Sharpe.

Audience Award winner

The winner of the very first Ramaskrik Audience Award has also been announced. Our fantastic record-breaking audience has spoken: Joko Anwar's Ghost in the Cell is the Audience Award winner of Ramaskrik 2026.

Indonesian genre master Joko Anwar, known for Satan's Slaves and Impetigore, returns with what may be the wildest prison movie ever made, combining martial arts, extreme violence, and comedy in Ghost in the Cell.

A huge thank you to everyone who cast their vote.

Thanks to our amazing audience, our volunteers, and all our partners and supporters. We love every single one of you!

Now it's time for a little sleep before we start looking ahead to Ramaskrik Film Festival 2027, taking place October 20-24, 2027. We can't wait to see you again!
