Bulk

(
2025)

Corey Harlan wakes up in what appears to be an ordinary British terraced house. It turns out, however, to be a bizarre machine, with every door opening onto strange, violent and war-torn worlds. In his search for answers, Harlan is joined by Aclima, a mysterious interdimensional being.

Bulk is something quite rare: a low-budget, “high-concept” science fiction film about a failed string theory experiment! Shot in gorgeous black and white, the film is a confusing and psychedelic brain teaser, filled with hand-drawn animation, collages and practical effects. It feels homemade and brings to mind experimental works from the 60s and 70s, or, for that matter, the early episodes of The Twilight Zone. The small ensemble cast, all the roles are played by just four actors, wholeheartedly embraces Wheatley’s distinctive vision and gives it their all, bringing to life a deranged world of scientific puzzles, post-apocalyptic car chases and shoot-outs. And the end credits are a work of art in their own right!

Cold Prey

(
Fritt vilt
,
2006)

It has been 20 years since Norway got its first classic slasher film with Cold Prey. Roar Uthaug’s feature debut follows a group of friends on a snowboarding trip in Jotunheimen who, after an accident, are forced to seek shelter at a remote mountain hotel. Cold Prey became a huge box-office success and launched a franchise with two sequels. Together with some of the people who were part of the journey, we’ll be celebrating the anniversary at Ramaskrik.

There will be two screenings: one with an introduction by director Roar Uthaug and actor Ingrid Bolsø Berdal in «kinosalen». In addition, there will be an exclusive screening with a live commentary track by Uthaug and Bolsø Berdal in «allsalen». The latter screening will be in Norwegian only.

HEX

(
2026)

Three women enter into a three-year pact to awaken the witches within and conquer the male-dominated black metal scene. Together, they form the band Witch Club Satan. With their aggressive sound and grotesque, blood-soaked performances, they defy the odds and find success. But their embrace of paganism and Satanism also provokes outrage. In a witch trial worthy of the 17th century, they face condemnation and the flames.

Driven by aggressive witch shrieks and primal roars, Hex’s Dolby Atmos soundtrack delivers one of the year’s most visceral sonic experiences.

Ken Russell's The Devils

(
1971)

It’s finally time for a long-awaited, newly restored and uncensored version of Ken Russell’s wildly over-the-top, controversial classic The Devils! This hyper-stylized and notorious film is loosely based on a historical witch trial in France (the Loudun possessions). Set in the 17th century, it follows a Catholic priest (Oliver Reed) who is accused of devil worship, while a nun (Vanessa Redgrave) who lusts after the priest is suspected of being possessed by the Devil himself.

The Devils is a lot: think the naked, violent critique of power of Pasolini’s Salò mixed with Monty Python’s Life of Brian, the sexual melodrama of Black Narcissus, and Żuławski’s feverish nightmare Possession. The film is spectacularly brutal and relentlessly propulsive, jumping from one intense, pivotal moment to the next. The Devils is packed with carnivalesque violence, reflections on power, and transgressive desire. At last, we can experience it newly restored and uncensored on the big screen!

Kill List

(
2011)

A former soldier turned hitman takes on a mysterious but lucrative assignment. He works his way through the kill list, but the jobs become increasingly brutal, eventually spiralling into a nightmarish descent into the heart of darkness.

Kill List is an unsettling and disorienting experience. Ben Wheatley plays with the audience’s expectations of genre, constantly casting doubt on the film’s own reality. The story appears to move forward in a linear fashion, but repeatedly makes small leaps in directions you could never have anticipated, leaving you with the feeling that you are completely lost. Combined with disorienting editing, a seemingly haunted score and brutally uncomfortable violence, it leaves you asking yourself: “How the hell did we get here?”

Rubber

(
2010)

Robert is an ordinary tire with ordinary desires to explode heads with telekinesis. We as the audience follow an audience that follows Robert from a distance with binoculars out in the desert somewhere in the US. But that’s not important. We’re all here to see a tire kill people.

Rubber is made by Frenchman Quentin Dupieux who is no stranger to Ramaskrik with his film Smoking Causes Coughing. As in his other films, you can expect deadpan and anti-humor, but this one is slightly more meta than his others. If you wish to see high-action head rolling and blood splatter every second, you’ll be disappointed as Robert is in no hurry when he rolls from victim to victim - and when he’s not rolling he’s watching TV.

This screening is a collaboration between Trondheim Film Society, Ramaskrik, and of course Toyota Oppdal, which is also our screening location.

Troll 2

(
2025)

You can now see Roar Uthaug's Troll 2 on the big screen in an exclusive screening of the sequel to Troll from 2022.

The trolls are coming back to life, and Nora, Andreas, and Major Kristoffer Holm are back in action as the trolls head toward Trondheim and Nidaros Cathedral. Troll 2 is the largest film production in the Nordic region, and we are thrilled to show it in our cinema.

Oppdal is in full troll mode these days, following the filming of the family movie Rocky the Troll early this summer. The film will be released in cinemas in 2027, and the local community in Oppdal has big plans to become the "Home of the Trolls." That makes it especially fitting that we now have this unique opportunity to show Troll 2 in our largest auditorium.

We will be joined by director Roar Uthaug and writer Espen Aukan, and this screening is free and open to everyone. Before the film, one of Rocky the Troll's troll friends, NEAS, invites you to a troll pre-party in the foyer.
